Professor of Environmental Engineering Penn State University Harrisburg
Dr. Shirley Clark received her Ph.D. in Environmental Health Engineering from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She currently is a Professor of Environmental Engineering at Penn State University Harrisburg. Throughout her tenure at Penn State Harrisburg, she and her students have worked at the intersection of urban hydrology, urban water quality, and groundwater with a specific focus on the removal and retention of metals and nutrients in vadose zone soils as well as understanding water movement of water through disturbed urban soils. Her recent research focuses on the impacts of road salts on infiltrating water pollutant retention in soils and engineered media designed for stormwater treatment. She currently serves on Pennsylvania’s Water Resources Advisory Committee and is the chair of ASCE-EWRI’s Technical Activities Executive Committee.
