Research chair of Water Science and Technology Tecnologico de Monterrey
Jürgen Mahlknecht is research chair of Water Science and Technology at Tecnologico de Monterrey, founding director of the Water Center for Latin America and the Caribbean (2008-2017). Previously he worked as researcher at University of Guanajuato (Mexico), University of Applied Life Sciences Vienna (Austria), National Autonomous University of Mexico and University of Guanajuato (Mexico). He is graduated in Water and Wastewater Management and Engineering and holds a PhD in Hydrogeology from University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna, Austria. He did more than 25 years of research on isotope hydrology, hydrogeochemistry, groundwater contamination, and water resources management. He has been awarded with several distinctions from Austria and Mexico, and is member of the Sistema Nacional de Investigadores, Level 2 (CONACyT, Mexico). Currently, his research interest is focused on novel tracer technologies for groundwater pollution, urban groundwater management, and water-energy-food nexus.
