David N. Bethune

David has worked as a professional hydrogeologist since 1986 in Canada, Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Bolivia, Peru, Malawi and Ghana. David was involved with the creation of hydrogeology MSc programs in six countries, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Honduras, Guatemala and Bolivia. David is one of the founding members of the charity, Hydrogeologists Without Borders where he has led a team of hydrogeology volunteers from around the world. David worked for 15 years at the University of Calgary where he directed water projects in Latin America funded by the Canadian International Development Agency. David has worked for the International Development Research Centre, the International Atomic Energy Agency and the World Bank. David’s Ph.D. (Environmental Engineering) research focussed on low-cost ecological sanitation in rural areas. David is currently working for GW Solutions in Nanaimo, BC, on water resource management for First Nations.
